Mockingbirds can recognize people....
The Associated Press reports that mockingbirds can recognize people who have threatened their nests. They can, as it were, target their enemies.
Randolph E. Schmid, the AP science writer reported on an article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published on May 15th. He quoted Douglas J. Levey, a professor of environmental ecology in the zoology department at the University of Florida. "This shows a bird is much more perceptive of its environment than people had previously suspected."
