Those items from other libraries....

Don't arrive at the STCC Library magically. We belong to the Cooperating Libraries of Greater Springfield, a group consisting of the libraries at Baypath College, AIC, Elms, HCC, Springfield College, Western New England and Westfield State, as well as the Springfield Public Library.

Some of those libraries are also members of C/W MARS, which provides our catalog.

ALL of these libraries lend directly to STCC students, faculty and staff with STCC IDS or library cards. The C/W MARS libraries send materials to you here simply by your request through our catalog. The other libraries send materials when the STCC LIBRARY requests those items on your behalf. In both cases, we use a delivery system based at Springfield's City Library that we pay for through our CLGS membership.

We are also members of the Western Massachusetts Regional Library System.
WMRLS serves hundreds of libraries in four counties, (Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire) and delivers items to Springfield City Library, many of which come to you here.

So, it takes time (and money) to get you the items you want from other libraries. Recently, the folks at WMRLS explained that they are now delivering over 2 million (!) items to libraries in the Western Region.
