You may ask, what is del.icio.us"?

del.icio.us is a collection of your favorite web sites that you can have access to from anywhere. "del.icio.us is a social bookmarking website -- the primary use of del.icio.us is to store your bookmarks online, which allows you to access the same bookmarks from any computer and add bookmarks from anywhere, too". On del.icio.us, you can use tags to describe, organize and remember your bookmarks".

The STCC library has a del.icio.us account, to which we have recently added many sites that we think will be useful in doing research. We have described the sites using tags, and organized the tags into related groups. We have included general resources useful for reference, as well as sites covering topics such as history, art, and health. We also have found sites that would be useful for doing research on various current affairs topics, such as the environment, women's issues, or politics.

An article was recently published in the national publication Library Journal about the use of del.icio.us by libraries. Among the libraries listed as having del.icio.us accounts in order to "boost participation" by patrons was our own STCC!
