YOU and your CELL PHONE
Here are a few tips for making your Cell Phone bill a bit lower. As you know, there are numerous services for which you pay quite a bit, when you add up the individual costs.
The article from which this content comes was in Thursday's NY Times. "Free Services to Inspire Your Cellphone" is by DAVID POGUE (fast becoming one of my favorite NY Times Reporters).
He found the following Google (that's right, GOOGLE!) services.
Text message to 46645 (Google without the 'e').
Type what you want -
name and zip code gets you a phone number by return text message.
weather and zip gets a weather report.
define and word (nipcheese for example) gets a definition.
Pretty cool, huh?
For the rest of these free (or at least, cheap) cool tools, go to the library's database list.
1) If you are on campus, select ON CAMPUS. Off campus? Select OFF CAMPUS.
(If you are an STCC student, faculty or staff member, use your library bar code and follow the instructions for off campus access)
2)If you are not an STCC affiliate, perhaps you can get to the NY TIMES from your own public or college library resources. OR, you can subscribe to the NY TIMES and get this on your own subscription!
3) Select LexisNexis from the list of databases.
4) Enter the article title, Free Services to Inspire Your Cellphone, Good luck! These services should help you lower your phone bill.
