Scholarship Info

We've had a number of students lately looking for scholarship money. We typically point them to Fastweb, a scholarship web site, where the students set up a detailed profile and are matched with available opportunities. Many of the scholarships have online applications. But there are a few other scholarships students should know about.

  • According to today's "Neighborhoods Plus" section of the Springfield Republican, the Horace Smith Fund has scholarship money available for graduates of Hampden County high schools, both public and private. High school seniors and college students are eligible. The deadline is February 1st, 2007. For more information, visit http://www.horacesmithfund.org or call (413) 739-4222.

  • Although you can't apply online, 'tis the season for Big Y scholarships. Visit any Big Y to pick up an application. The deadline is February 1st, 2007. For more information, call (413) 504-4047.

  • Don't forget the STCC Scholarships! They'll be available in late January after the start of the spring semester. We never really know how many scholarships there will be, because the number seems to increase every year. Deadlines are typically in March, although the Alumni Scholarship is due sometime in April. Applications will be available at the Student Activities Office, the library, and other locations around the campus.

More information can be found at the library's Scholarship Guide or by visiting the college's Scholarship page.
